The German artist GERHARD MANTZ, one of the pioneers of software and net art, had an academic education as a painter. He has been producing new media works since 1994. He started with paintings and abstract color objects, but his practice today is entirely digital. The artist works conceptually with code and a combination of code and intuition. His field spans from large prints on canvas to video installations. He combines the aesthetic of traditional media with contemporary possibilities of algorithms and digital imaging.
