ALEXANDER HAHN is an electronic media artist. A graduate of the Zurich University of Arts with a master's degree in art education (1979), he participated in the Whitney Museum Independent Study Program in New York (1981). He lives and works in Zürich and New York. His work has been presented worldwide in museums and galleries since the late 1970s, most recently in solo exhibitions at Kunstraum Oktogon, Bern, Switzerland (2015), Harvestworks, NY (2013), Museo d'Arte Contemporanea, Genoa, Italy (2008), Padiglione d'Arte Contemporanea, Ferrara, Italy (2007), Museum der Moderne, Salzburg, Austria (2007), Kunstmuseum Solothurn, Switzerland (2007); bi-personals at c | e ccontemporary, Milano, Italy (2014), San Francisco Moma (2008); group shows at the CAFA Museum, Beijing (2014), Anthology Archives, NY (2013), Musée Jenisch, Vevey, Switzerland (2013), India Art Fair, New Delhi (2013), Art Cologne, Germany (2010), National Art Museum of China, Beijing (2009), etc.
Hahn's work has been recognized by numerous grants, residencies and awards including NYSCA, NYFA, and Art Matters, NY, sitemapping, Swiss National Grant, City of Zurich work grant, Cultural Prize of St. Gallen and Rapperswil; E.T.C., Signal Culture, Harvestworks residencies; Bogliasco Foundation, NY, Pro Helvetia Swiss Cultural Council, Istituto Svizzero di Roma, Art+Com and DAAD, Berlin fellowships. His work is in many private and public collections, among them the Musée Pompidou, Paris, Zentrum für Kunst und Medientechnologie (ZKM), Karlsruhe, Neuer Berliner Kunstverein, Kunstmuseum Bern, Kunstmuseum Solothurn, Kunstmuseum St. Gallen, Kunsthaus Zürich, Musée Jenisch, Vevey.
